Our purpose
Our HISTORY
The vintage audio market has long relied on subjective descriptions and inconsistent evaluation methods.
Terms such as excellent condition, fully serviced or mint often vary from one seller, technician or collector to another, making objective comparisons difficult.
WAECC was established to address this need for consistency.
Its purpose is to provide a standardized framework for assessing the cosmetic and technical condition of vintage audio equipment through a clear, documented and reproducible inspection protocol. By applying the same evaluation criteria regardless of the equipment, brand or inspection center, WAECC promotes transparency, comparability and confidence.
The WAECC standard is designed to evolve alongside the vintage audio community and advances in restoration practices. Inspection procedures, scoring methods and certification requirements are regularly reviewed to ensure they remain relevant, rigorous and aligned with the highest professional expectations.
Today, WAECC serves as an independent reference framework for the evaluation and certification of vintage audio equipment, helping collectors, buyers, sellers and professional workshops communicate using a common language based on objective criteria.
